Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how MICHIEL JEWELLER collects, uses, stores and discloses personal information in connection with michiel.com.au. MICHIEL JEWELLER is operated by GRAYLINE DEVELOPMENTS PTY LTD (ABN 16 692 880 372). We apply the privacy laws that are applicable to our business and customers.

Information we collect

Depending on how you interact with MICHIEL, we may collect your name, email address, telephone number and contact details; billing and delivery addresses; order details, products purchased, sizes, transaction references and order history; payment status and information received from our payment provider; delivery, tracking and carrier information; messages, return requests, product concerns, photographs and other information you choose to provide to customer care; an email address and product interest where you request a back-in-stock notification; and technical information generated when you use the website, which may include IP address, browser or device information, timestamps, referring pages and interactions with the site.

If account functionality is made available and you choose to create an account, we may also hold account details and information associated with that account.

How we use personal information

We may use personal information to process and fulfil orders; process payments and reduce fraud or misuse; arrange shipping, tracking, customs processing and delivery; send order, payment, delivery and service communications; provide a back-in-stock notification that you specifically requested; respond to enquiries, returns, product concerns and complaints; operate, secure, troubleshoot and improve the website and checkout experience; maintain appropriate accounting, transaction and business records; and comply with legal, regulatory, tax, customs and dispute-resolution obligations.

Payments

Card payments are processed through Stripe. Information required to process a transaction may be provided to Stripe, payment networks, banks and fraud-prevention services as necessary to complete and protect the transaction. MICHIEL receives payment status and transaction information needed to administer the order. Stripe handles information under its own privacy terms and legal obligations.

Back-in-stock notifications

If you ask to be notified when a product returns to stock, we use the email address and product information you provide for that requested notification. MICHIEL does not currently use back-in-stock sign-ups to enrol customers in a
general marketing or newsletter list unless the customer separately chooses to do so. You may ask us to stop back in-stock notifications by using any available notification controls or by contacting care@michiel.com.au.

Service providers and disclosure

We may disclose personal information where reasonably necessary to trusted service providers that help us operate the store, including payment processing, website and e-commerce services, order fulfilment, delivery, stock notifications, security, technical support, analytics where enabled, professional advice and customer support. We may also disclose information where required or authorised by law, including to regulators, courts, law-enforcement bodies, customs authorities or other government agencies. We do not sell customer contact lists.

Cookies and website information

The website uses cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for functions such as shopping carts, checkout, session management, security and site preferences. The website may also use analytics or similar technologies to understand how the site is used and to improve performance. You can control many cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies that are necessary for checkout or other requested functions may prevent parts of the website from working correctly.

Overseas processing

Some service providers used to operate an online store may process or store personal information outside Australia. New Zealand orders also require relevant order and delivery information to be handled in New Zealand for delivery and, where applicable, customs processing. Where applicable law requires us to provide more specific information about likely overseas recipients or locations, we will do so where reasonably practicable.

Security and retention

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. No online system can be guaranteed completely secure. We retain personal information
for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including order fulfilment, customer care, accounting, legal obligations, fraud prevention and dispute resolution. Information may be deleted or de identified when it is no longer required, subject to lawful record-keeping obligations and backup processes.

Access, correction and privacy enquiries

You may contact us to request access to personal information we hold about you or to ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, subject to applicable law. We may need to verify your identity before providing or changing personal information. For privacy questions, access or correction requests, or complaints, email care@michiel.com.au. We will consider and respond to privacy complaints within a reasonable time and in accordance with any applicable legal requirements.

Marketing

MICHIEL does not currently send general marketing or newsletter emails. If this changes in the future, we will update our practices and provide any consent and unsubscribe mechanisms required by applicable law.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when our website, service providers, information practices or legal obligations change. The effective date at the top of the policy identifies the current version.
